10 on Tuesday

1. Last Saturday started out with a phone call that made me cry and ended with another phone call that made me cry.
   
2. I'm so very thankful Mick is okay
   
3. I'm missing the sunny weather, already
4. Ashlynn and her comments have been cracking me up. The girls made get well cards for Uncle Mick and after Ash started she got mad and wanted another piece of paper, we asked her why and she said, "I didn't mean to draw an angry chicken."
   
5. I really need to go to the grocery store, work for my dad and do some things for VBS, but instead, I'm sitting here catching up on blogs and listening to Ash and Jason play Go Fish
   
6. I'm thinking about Mother's day and blogging Everyday in May
   
7. I really need a hair cut
8. I'm looking forward to a couple of dates to have lunch with friends this week
9. I received happy mail today
   
10. It's time for lunch and I've really got to go get ready for the day
    

Over the Moutains and Through the Woods

*This post is way late, but I still wanted to do a re-cap and document our fun family Spring Break.*

We met Keith & Amy and Tim & Krista at Papa and Grandma's house in Portland.

The cousins were so excited to be together
I loved the hours of chatting with Amy and Krista
The guys helped Dave rebuild the deck
We celebrated a few birthdays
Went to see the play, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus
With Easter so close, there were many egg hunts
The kids cleaned out a storage area and made it into a fort
Worshiped together at church
Played at the park
The dogs ran through the house with muddy paws
Apps & games for iphones and ipod touches were the talk of the weekend
Stopped for coffee, daily
Ran to IKEA
Ate huge family dinners together

It was a great way to spend part of Spring Break, together with family.

Jason was home yesterday and my usual snuggle bug left me for some cuddle time with her dad. I sat on the opposite couch smiling at how sweet it was to see them sitting together. How loved and comfortable Ash looked.



Later that day, Jason started teaching Ash how to ride her bike. He was so proud of his little 'keiki' as she kept peddling while trying to figure out how to balance and steer at the same time. She trusted him to hold her up and catch her when she started to fall. I sat there again smiling inside as I watched them together.

There's just something about a dad and his daughter. Precious.

Happy Jumping Birthday Party

Today we celebrated Abigail's 7th Birthday!

It was fun to pick Abigail and her friends up from school. I loved walking her into the house and seeing her excitement when she saw it all decorated for the party.

Happy Easter

The girls woke up to cute bunnies in their Easter baskets
We went to church with the family
Ate lunch at mom's
The kids had an Easter egg hunt
Ate strawberry shortcake for dessert
Stopped by my sister's new house
and
Made it home in time to watch, Minute to Win It before bed

*I have to blog about (so I don't forget), how much the girls wanted to help us make dinner. All 3 were in the kitchen, wanting to be a part of it. Michayla made the salad dressing, Abigail helped with the deviled eggs, Ash washed the mushrooms and helped grandma with the asparagus. The girls also set the table. It was so nice for us all to be in kitchen together, a little crazy but really nice. I asked mom if she loved all the little granddaughter hands helping us, and of course, she loves it. I'm looking forward to, more family dinners that we will all work on together, in the kitchen.*

Family Time

Friday was a good day.

We were actually able to decorate eggs together as a family. This is sometimes an activity that Jason misses out on, but not this year. We have so enjoyed him being off with us during Spring Break, I hope he takes it off every year. To help in the aid of our egg decorating, I bought a couple different kinds of decorating kits, speckled and color squirt. I'm not sure why? Since really, they never turn out like the ones pictured on the box, but hey, the kids had fun and Jason too.

That night we (mom and dad, Andrea and the kids, and us) all went to see No Greater Love. Did you know it has been going on for 31 years. Wow, such a powerful, needed message that they have been bringing to the community all these years. I'm glad I went. Glad I was able to go with my family and glad that I got to see it with my girls. I sat there holding a wiggly girl, on and off, and next to a sweet girl who had a million questions, and as both girls hung onto my arm a huge wave of reassurance came over me, this is the most important job you'll ever have, being their mom and teaching them about Jesus and his love. I am so thankful for His love.

Tonight we are going to make Easter cookies. My mom sent me this link last year. Each ingredient for the cookies help the kids visually understand the message of Christ's death and resurrection. I hope making these cookies turn into a family tradition that we do together every year.

Okay, now it's off to bunny land because, I still haven't finished them. No worries, I work well under pressure. They'll be done and in their baskets by morning.
