On a day like today ...

... I'm thinking about summer, fun in the sun and a nice tan!

And, I still have all of spring to go through until that happens. But really, I'm getting sick of the cold, snow and wind.

I'm ready for flip flops, a cute cover up, tall glass of iced tea and time by the pool.

Right now would be the perfect time to plan a sunny, sandy vacation getaway.

And, guess what ...

we don't have any plans like that. Bummer!

But on a day like to day, a girl can dream!

Cookie Anyone?

Last night, my sister, Mick and Michayla come over to watch the girls for us while we went out on a date. I made them dinner before I left, easy chicken pot pie. They were searching through the pantry for some bread to go with dinner, which they didn't find (there was a loaf in the freezer) but instead Andrea spotted some 'cookies'. She said, "Oh, we can have some cookies after dinner." So, dinner was done ... Andrea pulled out the ziplock bag of 'cookies', smelled them and said they were peanut butter and handed them out to Mick and Michayla. All three of them took a bite ... I'm already laughing just writing this out ... and Mick said, "you're sister bakes better than this.", Andrea couldn't even get a bite it was so rubbery and Michayla immediately spit hers out in the sink.

That's when Abigail said, "Them are for Jake!" and Andrea remembered this post.

Cookie anyone?

Maybe I should think about investing in one of these.



When my sister told me this story, I laughed so hard. I'm not sure when the last time was I laughed that hard and I'm still laughing today!

Hope everyone gets a date night too this weekend and comes home to a hilarious story!

10 on Tuesday

1. I'm so thankful to be a stay at home mom.
2. Made a new blueberry muffin recipe and boy they were good.
   
3. I was able to go with 2 loved ones to their doctors appt today.
   
4. I am thankful for my friends. Kelly offered to watch Ash today and Melissa picked up Abigail from school for me. Thanks friends!
   
5. Helped the girls finish their valentines, which turned out so cute.
6. I just realized I talked to almost my whole family today ... mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, sister. I think I should go call my brother.
   
7. Made breakfast for dinner.
8. Didn't have to do any homework tonight. Plus, we have a 5 day weekend coming up!
   
9. Biggest loser is on, can't wait to jammie up and watch it with the girls.
10. My girls are loud and wound up tonight (probably a sugar high, which will undoubtedly continue through the weekend) AND I'm crazy in love with them.
    

Heart Handprints

The girls and I had fun making these sweet heart handprints today.

Andrea blogged about this cute idea she saw here and I knew right away we had to make them too.

Both girls made one and then I wrote a verse around it.

I think I want to hang them upstairs, so we can look at them all year. We also made one to give as a Valentine to a special someone.

I have one more V-day project I want to get done. I better get to it, hello, only 5 more days till the day of love is here.

For Christmas my mom gave Abigail the CD, pureNRG, The Real Thing. We downloaded it to her MP3 player and she just loves it. Her favorite songs are track # 4 & 5. I love listening to her sing them. She performs a concert to any ready and listening audience (like for Papa when he was here) and sings the songs with all her heart. Ash sings along to them too, with just as much sincerity. I've even heard Abigail and her friend Kennedy singing to them as the CD player blasts the song in her room. When you hear little girls singing, "let me introduce you to Jesus", a smile fills your heart.

Outstanding Spelling

(don't you just love that smile!)

Today, Abigail received an achievement award during the school assembly for her outstanding spelling! She got 100% on all her spelling tests last quarter, plus got all the bonus words correct too.

Birthday Boy

Happy 1st Birthday Jake!

Were so happy we have a dog! and not just any ol' dog, but the worlds greatest dog! He brings us so much love. It's been fun watching him grow and become such an important member of our family.

How do you celebrate a dog's birthday? Well, you could do this (which did cross my mind) but instead we

baked, our favorite dog, some dog treats

played fetch with him

sent his favorite little people out to play with him

brought him inside to hang out

and

loved on him every time he asked

Weekend Re-Cap

Friday
Our weekend started early, since Jason had Friday off. J and I spent the day running errands.

Somehow I was able to talk the family into celebrating my birthday a day early. We ordered Chinese, opened presents and watched a movie together. It was a perfect evening, hanging out with the people I love the most. Thanks J and girls!

Saturday
Birthday day. I received many nice phone calls and messages on FB, thanks everyone!

The girls and I ran to Hobby Lobby to get a few things to make some Valentine decorations for the house. Last week I walked into Kelly's house (which was cutely decorated for V-day) and realized we don't have any. Then I thought, we should have some. We're going to make felt hearts, I'm planning to do a 'heart attack', and I've seen some other cute ideas I might end up doing too. We also picked up some paper for Abigail, she's going to make her valentines this year.

We helped Luke celebrate his 6th birthday.


Abigail got her live ants in the mail for her ant hill. (Our new thing to do around here is eat breakfast and watch the ants at work.)


Michayla came over and spent the night.

I was happy to see it snowing. (I really need to watch the news more, I had no idea it was even in the forecast.)

Sunday
It snowed all morning.

The girls and I started making felt hearts. It was fun to sit down and teach them how to tread the needle and stitch. When we got 5 of them done we hung them off the dinning room light. I love it!


We played in the snow and built a snowman, two actually. Ash built her own and Michayla and Abigail made one.




I met my sister and mom at the mall. We ran into the sweetest baby while shopping! It brought back memories of shopping with the girls when they were little, man where those days nice. These days shopping with a 6 and 4 year is a total workout. ;o)

Jason ordered pizza, since (oops) we were gone a little longer than I thought, and we ended the weekend with a quiet night at home.
