Everything Friday

Is it Friday again?  Wow the weeks fly by.  I can't believe that tomorrow it will have been a week since Ash's bike crash.  She's doing great.  She did miss school this week and a Tball game but everyday she shown big improvements.  And today she was able to be in her class picture.  Can you believe this was the week of pictures?  And Tball pictures are tomorrow. At least you get to see her cute new smile in them.

I couldn't believe we woke up to snow this morning.  I'm really ready for some nice 70 degree sunny days.  I want to start wearing t-shirts and flip flops.

We watched the Royal wedding this morning.  Ash immediately said, "I'm Kate!"

Abigail's fish, Lightening, died this week.  They think he was just an unhealthy fish and that it was nothing we did, thank goodness.  I know nothing about fish, we really need to get a book about them.  So, we got another fish, this one is named Speckles.  That brings the count back up to 3 fish.  I think we're going to wait a couple more weeks before adding anymore.

Yesterday was 'bring your kid to work' day at Kohl's.  I have the cutest picture of Abigail and Jason, but that's going to have to be a post of it's own.

The girls and I are staying in and watching girl movies tonight, it'll probably be cereal for dinner (even though I just went grocery shopping this morning) ... can you tell, J's working tonight.

Do you want the good news of the day or the bad news first?

Right, the good news first.

Tonight we got a ding-dong at the door and when the girls opened it we saw that we'd been egged.  This has never happened to us.  The girls ran out and saw that there were eggs hidden in the yard with their names on them.  They ran back inside, grabbed their Easter baskets (and camera) and then started hunting.  It was so cute.  The girls were so excited and couldn't believe that someone had done this for them.  And then they opened each egg, more smiles.  The girls sat and played and ate their candy ... and I thought about how blessed we are to have such sweet friends.  Thanks friends!!

Now for the bad news.

So, the girls and I finish dinner and then decide to go on our evening bike ride.  The girls slip on their flip flops, I yell for Jake and off we go.  We have a couple different routes we ride.  Tonight I thought we'd ride to the school and stop and play since it was such a nice day.  We're riding along and get to our favorite place, where it starts to go downhill. You can get going pretty fast and just coast.  Well tonight as we rode down the hill Ash got going too fast, lost control and crashed.  I always ride behind, so I witnessed it all.  I didn't even stop my bike before I jumped off and ran to her.  She'd gone over the front of her bike and landed right on her face.

I'm going to skip some bits and pieces of the story (I'll come back and add it later).

I knew immediately that she needed to be seen.  Her teeth we're not right.  Abigail's friend lived right where the accident happened, we knocked on their door and they helped us.

We got back home, Abigail ran to get Melissa and I called the dentist's emergency number.  Dr Grant met us at the office. After an xray we knew, 

her two front teeth needed to be pulled.

Ash was scared.  Really scared.  She didn't want to go to the doctor.  Right when we got there she asked Dr Grant what he was going to do. After we decided I explained it would be just like the last time she came to see him, but now he was going to pull the two top teeth.  After realizing that and with the help our friend, laughing gas, all went well.

 Here she is looking at herself in the mirror.  Poor little girl.  She's been such a trooper.  I'm so proud of you Ash.  

I'm so very proud of Abigail too, what a great big sister she was during all of this.

And thanks Melissa for dropping everything to help me.  I don't know what I'd do without you.  You're such an amazing friend!!

Again tonight, I sit and think, I've been blessed with such sweet friends.

Everything Friday

Well this is going to be a random post. Sometimes I just want to write down the 'stuff' that's been happening around here.  It's my everything and anything post.

This week I made some carrot bread.  And you've gotta make it too. It's so yummy, we ate the whole loaf in less then 24hrs and I plan to make another one soon, like on Sunday soon.

Ash came home from school with two, one for her and one for Abigail.

If Easter dinner was at my house I'd use them on the table for sure.

We also colored eggs last night.  The whole family got into it.  We went back to the ol' traditional, magic crayon and dye.  Classic.  We had fun writing sweet little messages to each other and drawing pictures.

 

I'm doing a little home re-decorating.  

The front living room curtain rod broke and that has lead to a new rod, raising the height of the rod, and new curtains (and now patching up some holes).  I'm going for a look I saw in a Ballard Design catalog.  Amy suggested I just make them myself out of drop cloths.  So, that's what I did.  We hung the new curtains yesterday (just to see how it'd look) and now I need to add the ribbon to the bottom.  I can't wait to finish them.

Plus I'm changing up the master bedroom.  We've had the same pictures hanging in there for almost 10 years now.  Time for something new.  I've seen this idea in a few different places and love it.

  I also need to put this up.  I'm working on finding, editing and printing out some of my favorite photos of me and J.

And then there's the ever present 'want' of finding new pillows for the back living room couch.  I've been saying this for months.  I think I'm a little bit further in that search.  Is it okay to ask for pillows for Mother's Day?

I've got a date night tonight with my husband and girls.  We're going to the movies.  Do you have any plans for this Friday night?

Kuna Rattlers

Ash had her first TBall game last night.

Play Ball!

She was the last batter up, so she got to bring everyone home and run the bases straight through.

She played 1st base and got 3 kids out.

And then she played 3rd baseman and doesn't she look so stinkin' cute!  I love how her hat is sitting on top of her head.

Ash had lots of fun, her favorite part was running the bases.

We're looking forward to watching her other games.

Girls Weekend

I just had an amazing weekend in McCall with some great gals! 

Crafting, eating, movies, sewing, chatting, laughing and snorting.

So much fun!

And while I was away, J and the girls had a their own amazing daddy/girl weekend.

Soccer game, the library, fish store, movie night, bike rides, basketball, homemade root beer, and playing outside.

So much fun!

I enjoyed my time away but there's something to be said for coming home, especially when you come home to this...

U Smile

As I looked through the birthday party pictures, every picture of Abigail was her with a big beautiful SMILE.  She has the greatest smile, so perfect, so natural.  I think it's the window to her heart.  She's such a happy, loving, sweet girl, with a great attitude and love for life.

As I edited her pictures all I could think about was the song Justin Bieber wrote,

U Smile, I smile.

That's how I feel, every time I see her flash that smile at me, all I can do is smile back.  Abigail you bring us so much joy!

Her birthday party started right after school.  Abigail invited a few friends (Jaclyn, Abi and Kennedy) from school.  It was nice they just all walked home together.

The girls first ate a snack and then got right to work on making their own JB posters.

Next the girls played song after song on Just Dance.

Then it was cake and ice cream time.

I surprised Abigail, she had no idea she was going to get a purple cake.

While they ate we did a little how well do you know Justin quiz.

Do you know his favorite cereal, the name of his dog or where he grew up?

  We do!

Of course after cake and ice cream comes presents.

And what's a party without tattoos.

It sure is great to be 8!

happy *eighth* birthday, abigail!

This year we did a little family gathering for Abigail at my mom's house, after church on Sunday.  My sister gave her Just Dance for the wii.  (This has been a huge hit, the girls love it!)  Abigail had been asking for a fish for her birthday, to which I said, "ask your grandma."  So, my mom and dad gave Abigail her very own pet.  Meet JB.

Isn't he beautiful!  Abigail just loves him.

Here's the note my mom put in Abigail's card:

Dear Abigail,

I hope you find as much enjoyment and pleasure from your fish aquarium as I did with mine.  In turn, you now have the responsibility of taking care of your fish and your tank.  You are sure to learn many lessons and become quite knowledgeable.  There is a whole world to learn about studying fish and all the many kinds and their habitat.  I pray you see God's handiwork ... on the 5th day of creation, God said, "Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures..." Gen 1:20

Once you learn to take care of your freshwater fish, we'll move up to a salt water tank! then we can really appreciate God's handiwork!

God loves me

The other day I was at the Family Christian Bookstore - as I checked out the cashier asked if I wanted to buy a bible for $5 that would be sent to a child in Latin America.  I was beaming with joy, yes I would!  Abigail would love this!   She had $80 with her gumballs for bibles.  Our original idea was to send the money we collected to missionaries and ask that it be applied to buying bibles for kids but this, this is perfect!  Thank you Lord!  So, I bought 16 bibles.  Each bible came with a bookmark that Abigail could write a message on for the child.

I am so thankful.  Thanks be to God.  It is His work that has brought this all together.  We pray these bibles make a huge impact on the lives of the children they reach and we pray they come to know Jesus as their personal Savior.

Thank you to everyone who has given money to Abigail for her gumballs for bibles.  

Spring Trip!

For spring break we packed up and flew to Seattle to spend it with Keith & Amy and the girls.  We couldn't wait to tour Seattle, see their new house, help work on the chicken coop, celebrate birthdays and spend time together.

Monday

We got into Seattle around 10am. It ended up being a beautiful day to tour Seattle.  We actually saw the sun!

First stop, the famous Pike Place Market.

It was fun to watch the guys throw the fish to each other.

And all the fresh bouquets of flowers were just beautiful ... check out the tulips.

Of course the food was amazing, chicken on a stick, and who could resist fresh doughnuts.  Not us.

Then we went to the space needle.  The girls had been talking about this and couldn't wait.  I love how cool the space needle looks in the Seattle sky line.  And the view from the top, priceless.  I'm so glad it was a clear day, you could see for miles.

Next we headed over to the Seattle Aquarium.

That was awesome.  The girls got to touch the star fish, watch the divers feed the fish and see the otters.  Plus look at tank after tank of cool fish and amazing sea life.

Last we loaded up and took the ferry over to Bainbridge Island.

Tuesday

We took a trip to the beach where the girls looked for sea shells and sea glass.  The guys got started on the chicken coop. And we celebrated Keith's birthday!

Wednesday

The guys took the girls swimming while Amy and I did a little shopping downtown.  Dave drove up and spent the night, it was so nice to see him.  We missed celebrating his 70th birthday with him and are so thankful he was able to come up.

Thursday

Amy and I took the girls out for lunch, the guys worked on the chicken coop (I wish I had taken a picture of it, it's so cute!) It'll be so nice to see chickens running around out there. Plus, not to mention, how nice it will be to have fresh eggs.

The girls and I, okay more like Anna and I, made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and Amy made a fabulous chicken and artichoke dinner.

Friday

Amy took us to a cute little candy shop, Bon Bon.  We wanted to go to the beach at the end of their road but it rained hard all day. So, we just hung out waiting for the inevitable ... having to leave to go back home.  The girls were so sad, Abigail and Ash wanted to move there, they said Melissa could just send our clothes and Jake to us.

The week was over in a blink.  The girls loved playing with their cousins.  Emily played 'horse jumping' with them (she'd build a course of different jumps and then they'd act like a horse and run and do the jumps) and she'd do their hair for them everyday, and Anna shared her toys and games with the girls, Ash loved her Squinkies.

Thanks for having us, we loved that we got to spend spring break with you guys!  We're counting down the months until we see you again!
