(I know, this post could really use some pictures)
The girls are so happy over their first pair of 'skinny jeans' ... but who wouldn't be, they're super cute.
Who needs flip flops, the girls are now wearing their jelly sandals all the time.
The other night I was talking to J about what he could do for dinner (since I was out shopping with my mom and wouldn't be home to make anything) and Abigail popped in and said, "mom, you don't have to tell men that, men know everything."
So while I was at the Junk yard in OR, I found the book, Arthur's Honey Bear, and it immediately took me back to my childhood. I loved that book, read it a bazillion times and I couldn't wait to have my girls read it. After I got it I thought, I'm sure my mom still has this book. A little note about my mom, she's kept everything and I mean everything from our childhood. I've know this. The girls play with my cabbage patch kids at her house, along with the stroller and highchair I used with my babies. They play with the tea set and pretend food we had. They have even colored in the same coloring books I had as a kid (that one surprised me, she kept our coloring books!). I had already seen all our Bernstein Books but I knew there had to be a box up in the attic, filled with more books. Yep, I was right. I climbed up there and found a box of books and in it was Arthur's Honey Bear and many more that I remember, like all our Serendipity books. It was like Christmas or hitting the Jack pot ... I am thrilled! Thanks mom for saving all those special things from our childhood, I love being able to share it with my girls. (Seeing all that my mom saved has really made me think about what items/toys I will save for my girl's kids.)

Picnic Fun

oh yeah, and of course, my camera
Ash ate her chips first and I thought it funny that Abigail saved hers for last.
There it is. Do you see it? My heart. It's sitting right there.

Family Reunion
This year we had the pleasure of taking Michayla with us on our annual trip to Sweet Home. Every year we go to the river and I think, the kids (clay and sis) sure would love it here. I'm so glad it worked out to have her come along.
When we pulled in on Friday, the cousin were so excited to see each other and immediately everyone was in their suits and headed down to the river. With Emily soon joining them, the kids walked even further up river than last year, they past the 'drops' and this year went to the 'bush'.
Saturday - was the luau, complete with an in-ground cooked pig and tiki bar.
Sunday - was family picture day
Monday - was a little field trip to Uncle Tim's work, he gave all the kids a fun ride around the block in his fire truck.
and then we all walked over to the tasty freeze for an ice cream cone, papa's treat.
Tuesday - the kids got their very first fort in the woods.
(these trees were just asking to be made into a little persons fort)
Wednesday - Krista took Amy and I to a junk yard. The sweetest old man owned it. I wish I had brought my camera so you could see just how much 'junk' he had, everything and anything you could imagine. We spent a few hours there walking around, digging through the piles.
Wednesday was also the day, of the first ride down the zip line! And then, many, many, many more rides followed.

The fun never ended, we were busy from morning to night and we even had to stay an extra day to fit it all in.
We sure do love the river, thanks Dave and Mary for having us.

Thursday - we finally canoed down the river. Tim, Krista and Jessie, Keith, Amy and Emily, & Jason, me, Michayla and Abigail went. We stopped and dropped off the girls at the bush and then picked up the little kids for a short canoe ride back to grandma and papa's bank. It worked out perfectly.
Of course the rest of Thursday was filled with more zip line rides and this time I had my fully charged camera out.

Home again
We're home, but way too tired to blog. I'll get to it sometime this week. I can't wait to 'talk' about our awesome week with family ... nothing beats a family reunion, luau style!

How To Train Your Dragon
Since we hadn't seen the movie yet, I decided to make it into a little theme day.
The girls woke up to HTTYD plate & cup, honey fish crackers, viking weapons and swedish fish to feed their pet dragons ... or to eat at the movie, if we were those kind of people who smuggle in candy.
Right away the girls wanted to color a picture of Astrid
play with their dragon friends
and have a good ol' viking fight
all before breakfast
After lunch we headed to the theater to meet the boys. The girls were so excited to see them (the boy's grandma had just been in town and the girls hadn't seen the boys in awhile). As we waited for the movie to start, all of them were around 1 race car game. 1 sat in the drivers seat, 1 stood to the left, 1 to the right, 1 stood on the back of the seat to see, and the other stood close by. Wish I would of had my camera, it was adorable. And just because, I want to write down how we sat. Melissa & Ryan, Me, Ash, Cody, Abigail and then Luke.
The movie was really cute, one I'm going to have to buy when it comes out. Abigail's favorite part was when toothless came and saved the boy's life and Ashlynn's was when the girl was flying the dragon.
Our first summer theme day complete, scratch that, I just remembered we had a Toy Story 3 day too. Look at me, that's our second summer theme day completed!

it was really hard not having abigail here to celebrate with us. i'm anxious to hear how she celebrated the fourth. we saved some fireworks and sparklers for her and i have a yummy dessert to make so that we can do another mini fourth of july celebration together as a family.
